Abstract
The Russia-Ukraine war has had significant consequences and impacts on the international economy, including the United States, the European Union, and other geographical regions. The present study, using a futures research method, seeks to answer the question of what will be the security consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war on West Asia and Iran? The aim of this study is to comprehensively identify the security consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on West Asia and the Iranian region. The research method in this project is a mixed method (quantitative-qualitative). The findings show that index A2 (impact on supply chain and financial market (high inflation and excessive price increases) is ranked first in direct and indirect impact. Index A11 (increased migration of war refugees) is ranked second in direct and indirect impact. Index A3 (impact on food resources (quantity and quality) is ranked third in direct impact and fourth in indirect impact. The result is that geopolitical disputes and war have economic, political, cultural and security impacts on other countries. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has shown that imposing sanctions on a belligerent country is not the best response, as it has spillover effects on non-belligerent countries, especially when the belligerent countries are trading partners of non-belligerent countries. Therefore, political leaders should try to avoid confrontations such as the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia and should use dialogue as a mechanism to resolve the conflict.
